Friends in Vancouver drove us up in the hills to get the “best” view, and stopped in front of “the largest and most beautiful house & gardens in our city”. We brazenly called up to a gardener on the 4th tier, pruning Japanese magnolias which bordered a waterfall. He came down, smiling, and escorted us through “room” after“room” of fantasy blooms. One tier of royal dahlias spread what seemed like forever, backed by white peonies and white roses. While we gushed praise for the gardener, we were overcome with embarrassment to learn that the “gardener”, was – oh, me – Mr. Lim, the gracious owner, who was “absolutely lovely”. On a 3'' royal blue ball, but you might want to try it on white, gold or even pale blue.
